When I used to live in Chennai, I used to walk to office. A luxury that I miss dearly. On my way back there was an old couple who used to sell different types of leafy veggies. Each day there were different varieties of them. About two three times a week they would sell spinach, and I would buy them at least once a week.
This is one recipe that has been passed down from generations in my family, and it's beauty is in the simplicity of it! This is a recipe my grandmother used to make, my mum and aunts now make and well, even I have started making it. :)
This is one dish that can be eaten with either with rice or chapati and it goes great with both. It's super easy to make as well.
- Take a cooker, add the cup of dal, chopped green chillies, chopped palak, garlic cloves, turmeric, water and salt and cook well.
- Once the dal is cooked, take a pan and when hot add the mustard seeds and curry leaves to it. When the mustard seeds start to pop add the cooked dal mixture to it and bring it to boil.
- Serve hot with either rice or chapati
